1.Gautam Buddha Regional International Airport
The construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport, which is already delayed by a year, is expected to be complete by next year, according to latest reports. The work to upgrade the domestic airport located near Gautam Budha’s birthplace Lumbini started in 2015 with a plan to complete it by 2017. However, like in other major projects in the country, the work at the site was delayed. According to the project officials, the construction of the administration building, control tower, runway, international terminal building has reached the final stage.This airport is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2020
2.Pokhara Regional International Airport
The new airport is intended to provide regional, domestic and international passengers with additional flight services over the current airport to encourage tourism in the Pokhara region, which is one of the popular tourist destinations in Nepal.This airport was purposed in 2032 BS and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal signed an agreement with China CAMC Engineering for constructing the airport. In April 2016, Prime Minister Oli set the foundation stone of the new airport.This airport is expected to be completed by the end of 2020AD.
3.Melamchi Drinking Water Project
The Melamchi Water Supply Project is most viable long-term alternative to ease the chronic water shortage situation within the Kathmandu . The Project is designed to divert about 170 MLD of fresh water to Kathmandu Valley from the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk district. Augmenting this supply by adding about a further 170 MLD each from the Yangri and Larke rivers, which lie in the upstream proximity of Melamchi are also being investigated as future supply sources.The Board, as an independent project implementing body has come a long way to collect the necessary funds to implement the project since 1998 AD. It is said to be completed very soon.
4.Babai Irigation Project
The project had started in 1987 and the budget was released from internal resources. The estimated cost of the project initially was just Rs 2 billion. Over the years, it has grown to Rs 12.5 billion. The more it is delayed, the project is going to cost even more. The government has already spent Rs 8 billion separately for land acquisition.This project is of great importance and is still incomplete,and is said to be complete in 2080 BS
5.Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project
The Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project is a 456 MW peaking run-of-the-river hydroelectrIc project in Nepal. It is the largest hydroelectric project in Nepal, and was originally slated for completion in July 2018, later pushed back to December 2018, and again pushed back to November 2019. It is sited on the Tamakoshi River (also spelled Tamba Koshi), a tributary of the Sun Kosi river (also spelled Sunkoshi), near the Nepal–Tibet border.
The Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project is a Nepal national priority project. When it is completed, it is projected be the largest hydroelectric plant in Nepal, with a power output equivalent to two-thirds of Nepal’s current power generation. The Project is entirely financed from domestic financial institutions and companies.Construction began in February 2011.Construction began in February 2011.
